PRTNR’s Guide to LinkedIn
LinkedIn is a great resource for finding new opportunities and applying for jobs. Thousands of new jobs are posted every day. In a sea of applicants and talent, it’s important to optimize your profile so hiring managers and recruiters can find you. Let's go over four ways you can do that.
1. Unlock Your Message Tab
Looking for work? Unlock your message tab and make sure your contact information is visible. This way, hiring managers and recruiters can easily reach out with new opportunities. You can also edit your "about" section to mention that you're interested in new opportunities, and highlight your skillset.
2. Be Transparent
Hiring managers research candidates they are interested in hiring. Your LinkedIn profiles and social media profiles shouldn't look completely different. Show hiring managers who you are. If there are big differences between the two, they may wonder what you're hiding.
3. Optimize Your Profile
Are you open to a new opportunity? Adjust your settings on your profile to let recruiters know. LinkedIn released a new setting that makes it easy to do this. On your profile, click the "open to" button under your profile picture. You can then select "finding a job." By having this feature enabled, your profile will be pushed to the top when a recruiter is looking for potential candidates. Take it a step further and include locations and job titles to help recruiters narrow the search.
4. Don't Worry
Last but not least, don’t worry. LinkedIn prevents recruiters at your company from seeing that you are looking for work to safeguard your privacy. Your perfect job will come along without your current company knowing.
If you're job searching, LinkedIn is a great way for recruiters to find you, and for you to search for legitimate jobs. If you want to skip that step, feel free to contact us to learn more about working with PRTNR Recruiting.
