Mara Hoffman Gracefully Says Goodbye
After 24 gorgeous years in the business, designer Mara Hoffman announced she was shuttering her brand in a post on Instagram. Citing challenges in sustainability, Hoffman shared that her Spring 2024 collection would be her last.
“For anyone in the industry, specifically within the sustainability movement, you are aware that it has been far from easy on so may levels,” Hoffman said. “We have been fighting for what feels like a long time to make this vision and model work in an industry that I believe deep down in its heart wants to heal and become better.”
Hoffman launched her eponymous brand in 1999, and rose to mainstream popularity after becoming a favorite of every celebrity from Kim Kardashian to Beyoncé. A longtime champion for sustainability, Hoffman’s presence will certainly be missed in the industry.
"I remain hopeful that there is potential for positive change,” Hoffman continued. “Knowing that there are so many incredible people working towards new systems, technology and legislation, we have a chance at this."
Hoffman’s announcement sent shockwaves through the industry. We felt her announcement was professional and graceful. What do think of Hoffman’s decision to shutter her brand? Do you think she will be back in fashion someday? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
